Dermal Needling/Collagen Induction
It is important to have a thorough consultation prior to your Dermal Needling procedures. You will be given a list of medications and supplements to withold during the treatment periods, and, also, in order to achieve the best results for you, we like you to be on specific medical grade skin care for one month prior to your first treatment if possible. There are some medical conditions that may preclude you from this treatment. You will be required to sign a consent form. Before and after photos will be taken. Smoking may decrease the effects slightly.
Sterile, medical grade micro-needles create channels in the skin that stimulate the release of platelets and a cascade of healing growth factors. These induce local messages for the body to repair and to produce new collagen, and better align the collagen fibres. The skin is not damaged or traumatised, as a healing response is set in motion. This process is called Angiogenesis. The physiological process through which new blood vessels form from pre-existing vessels. Angiogenesis is a normal and vital process in growth and development, as well as in wound healing. Any damaged capillaries are encouraged to reform decreasing their redness in the skin. The needle channels permit the delivery of topical nutrients deep into the skin feeding the cells in the dermis and basal layers of the epidermis (top layer of the skin). The skin thickens, becomes more resilient and elastic, pore size reduces as do fine lines. Skin texture is improved and it may have a positive effect on pigmentation both increased and decreased. In some cases scarring, stretch marks and acne scarring can be improved.
3-6 treatments 4-6 weeks apart are recommended in order to reach maximum regeneration and collagen stimulation. A single repeat treatment 6-12 monthly is recommended. It may take up to 8-12 weeks following the last treatment before you actually see improvement, and the process continues over many months. This is a treatment which is long lasting and very natural. Dermal needling and PRP (Dermal Rejuvenation) can be used in conjunction with each other for a gold standard treatment. Topical anaesthetic cream can be applied to help reduce any discomfort of the procedure. Your face can look a little reddened afterward, this may last a few days. You will be sent home with an aftercare sheet of instructions which your clinician will go through before you leave. It is recommended you purchase the correct post needling products to ensure your results are as good as they can possibly be.
